Often, the score is derived from keyword density matching between the job description text and the candidate's resume text, perhaps weighted by how frequently certain skills appeared in the profiles of "successful" past employees. This superficial textual overlap completely misses tacit knowledge—the ability to pivot quickly, the judgment required when facing novel problems, or the communication style necessary to lead a diverse team.
